We offer martial arts training in the Ryukyu Kempo style.
Ryukyu Kempo is a system of martial arts that has roots in both; the Okinawan "TE" (HAND) system and the Chinese Kempo (FIST WAY). Thus RyuKyu Kempo is a blend of the old Okinawan and Chinese martial arts. The uniqueness of RyuKyu Kempo can be seen in the "hard style" training with power and emphasis on makiwara training.
Sensei Carl Gault, Sensei Johnnie Smith, and Sensei Jon Huffman teach the adult and kid's classes.
Sensei Gault is a 3rd Dan Black belt with over 20 years training and teaching experience.
Sensei Smith is a 1st Dan Black belt who has been training and teaching for the past 7 years.
Sensei Jon Huffman has 29 years Martial Arts Experience and holds three Black Belt rankings - 4th Dan Okinawan Kempo, 5th Dan Goshinkan Survival System, 5th Dan Taiho-Jutsu Police Art. He has been a Police Officer since 1987 with Four years Undercover Narcotics experience and is a State Certified Instructor - Firearms, Defensive Tactics. He is also a Team Leader on a 30 man S.W.A.T. Team. Sensei Huffman also served his country as a U.S. Army Ranger with the 1/75th Ranger Bn.
Sensei Gault and Sensei Smith opened the studio in 2006 at their current location at the Bellevue Rec Center.
The classes consist of learning the proper punch and kick techniques along with developing good kata forms. We also have a sparring night on the first Monday of each month so that the students can have a chance to put what they have been learning into action.
